“Don’t Worry, Bead Happy” has been one of Sally’s mantras for over 20 years. With a theatrical background in costume design, she segued to gemology studies in Asia; then, she traveled distant lands such as Bangkok, Katmandu and Nepal in search of some of the most distinctive and rare beads in the world. “People want to adorn themselves. Beads have a story and you create your own story when you bead a necklace.” With treasures from local artisans in distant lands, Sally began designing jewelry and selling rare beads at flea markets on Martha’s Vineyard where she opened her first store, Beadniksin 1989. Today, this entrepreneur has eight bead store franchises throughout the country. “I have an exotic job and the passion for all of the art and design that goes into it.”

“The secret to making a necklace is that not all beads are created equal. When using soft flex wire, place ‘spacers’ in between beads to set the prominent beads apart.”
