Artistic mergers attract the most innovative results. Take Janel, who melds custom illustrations of event and wedding design with the actual planning process. The “Art of Creative Celebrations” allows her company, Vivid Expressions, to freely transform art into events. “I begin with a concept illustration inspired by my client so I can visually set the scene and tell their story.” Janel believes that creative inspiration must be continuously cultivated and doesn’t always occur as an epiphany. Her secret weapon is the drawing and journaling technique which energizes her soul and nurtures inspiration. “Luck is preparation meeting opportunity when it presents itself. I set at least five to ten minutes a day aside to put thoughts to paper. I think of it as doing stretches before my mind goes for a nice run.” She suggests investing in the process; discovering your happy place; finding inspiration anywhere; and reviewing and reflecting on what you’ve penned.
