Jeanette Nichols/ Loves Bold Color

A self-described “pop art lover,” Newport News artist Jeanette uses bold color as her trademark. Her medium ranges from acrylics and oils to colored pencils for her canvas work. With her fiber art, she creates colorful scarves of fleece made from 100 percent recycled materials that are seen on the ski slopes of Colorado and Utah. Growing up in Europe, Jeanette was encouraged to create using whatever was around the house. She is not just multifaceted in her art but also in her life. She is an accomplished swimmer and coach and leads a yoga group. She is a disaster relief worker with the American Red Cross and will fly to help those struck by a natural disaster. When she travels, Jeanette always takes watercolor crayons, pencils and pad. “I am always creating. Many artists will say creating and painting is therapeutic but for me, it’s joy.”
